La compréhension de la relation de soins existante entre enfant et professionnel est importante, d’autant plus si l’on considère cette relation comme la base du pacte de soin en situation palliative pédiatrique. En effet, le type de relation entre soignant et soigné va influencer la qualité de la communication entre le professionnel et l’enfant et sa famille, la communication ayant elle-même un impact majeur sur la qualité de la prise en charge globale proposée à l’enfant et sa famille. Au travers de cet article, nous proposons d’étudier la relation de soins avec l’enfant en situation palliative et sa famille à partir des différents types de relation rencontrés dans notre clinique. Nous dégageons trois modèles qui sont la relation de soin asymétrique, la relation conflictuelle et enfin, l’« effacement » de la relation. Différents axes de réflexion sont exposés afin de tenter d’établir ou de rétablir un équilibre au sein de la relation soignant-soigné.

Understanding the existing relationship between child care and professional is important, especially if we consider this relationship as the basis of the pact care in pediatric palliative situation. Indeed, the type of relationship between professional and patient will influence the quality of communication between the professional and the child and family, communication itself having a major impact on the quality of comprehensive care offered to child and family. Through this article, we propose to study the care giving relationship with the child in palliative situation and his family from the different types of relationships encountered in our pediatric practice. Three models are described: asymmetric care relationship, the adversarial relationship and finally, the “erasure” of relationship. Different lines of thought are exposed in an attempt to establish or re-establish a balance in the professionnal-patient relationship.
